Stiebel Eltron hydronic heat pumps are known for their efficiency and low noise in operation. They are sophisticated heat pumps with considerable functionality that gives them a broad range of hydronic heating and cooling applications.
These heat pumps use inverter technology which allows the compressor to modulate its operating speed. They will cruise for greater efficiency as the inside set temperature is approached. This is much better for domestic house heating and cooling than the basic heat pump that is either fully on or fully off. There are three main options for domestic house heating and cooling using Stiebel Eltron hydronic heat pumps:
- The Stiebel Eltron model WPL17ACS air-to-water hydronic heat pump (above), which has operating capacity of 8.5kW in heating mode and 6.0kW in cooling mode. - The Stiebel Eltron model WPL25AC/S air-to-water hydronic heat pump (right), which has operating capacity of 14kW in heating mode and 15kW in cooling mode. This model is available in either single phase or 3 phase versions. It can hydronically heat and cool homes of up to 250m2 at 6 Star standard. It provides cooling in reverse cycle. - Grouping the Stiebel Eltron model WPL25AC/S air-to-water heat pumps into larger systems with up 6 units nested together as an integrated whole with a single control system. Hydrosol uses this approach for large houses above 250m2.

Stiebel Eltron heat pumps are designed to operate in reverse cycle for hydronic cooling. The wall controller has a humidity sensor that can adjust the hydronic water temperature if you are using underfloor area cooling with cool water above the dew point.
